Cub Scout Nature Hike

Last weekend, I put my naturalist and teacher skills to work leading an energetic group of 4th grade scouts on a hike to complete some of their Forester and Naturalist requirements. I had planned to blog some thoughts about the day and tips for facilitating your own hike. When my friend Alison Noyce sent me the photos, I decided to post a photo essay instead. I think they speak for themselves.

So here we go...

Want to slide down a hill, anyone?

Many thanks to Alison Noyce for taking and sharing these photos with me.

Have you spent time in nature lately? What did you do?

  1. Love this! Scouts has been such a positive experience the past several months our son has been home with us. It has given him a great group of friends, nurtured his confidence and created a special bond between him and his new dad.

    1. Amanda, I know many families have the same experience as yours. My friend and his son have really bonded through scouts, too.

  2. Nice pics! I enjoy hiking in the summers in Seattle, though I've never gone in the winter because it rains. Must try it on one of our sunny winter days.

    1. Thanks, Blessy. My friend Alison took them all.

Do try to get out and hike during the winter some time, if you can. The environment will be so different than in the summer.

We hope to take the boys on the same trail again in May so they can see how the ecosystem changes.
